Auto shows are a time for carmakers to display their hottest new models, boast about big horsepower numbers, and showcase low-to-the-floor, stylish, swoopy concept cars that have no chance of making it to production.
The 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show will be no different, as it kicks off the U.S. auto show season. This year, the show hosts dozens of world and national debuts, and the vehicles unveiled will span everything from entry-level economy cars to high-end sports cars.
The Los Angeles Auto show has a reputation for being a “green” show, where manufacturers display their newest fuel-saving technologies and vehicles. This year is no different, with electric vehicles from Honda and BMW,
plus compact fuel-sippers from Chevrolet. But that doesn’t mean that manufacturers are leaving the flash at home. Expect debuts of high-end sports cars from Audi, Infiniti, and Subaru, sporty versions of Audi and Volkswagen models, and the most powerful Camaro convertible ever made to make their official debuts at Los Angeles.
We’ll be paying special attention to the mainstream cars though, the ones you’re most likely to park in your driveway. Honda will show off the final version of its 2012 Honda CR-V crossover, we’ll see the 2013 Ford Escape for the first time, and we’ll also get a first look at the 2012 Mazda CX-5 crossover.
So bookmark this page, and check back frequently on November 16 and 17 as we cover the show live, as it happens. For now, we’ve previewed many of the vehicles, some of which we’ve seen at foreign shows, others we’ve seen only in pictures, and still more that we just have to make our best guess. Soon enough, the guessing will be over.
